Amelia Loh

Paralegal

About me

My involvement in public speaking and debate at a young age have cultivated a profound interest in law and advocacy. This has driven me to pursue LLB Law and complete the Bar Professional Training Course at Manchester.

After my graduation, I returned to Malaysia and qualified as a solicitor in 2020. As the jurisdiction in Malaysia fuses both the roles of a solicitor and barrister, I have been provided a holistic training ground. I have worked as a solicitor and advocate for approximately 3.5 years in Commercial Law, Corporate Law, Dispute Resolution and Civil Litigation. My work involved acting for and advising Malaysian and international businesses, banks, Big 4 firms, developers and insolvency practitioners on a myriad of legal issues, ranging from commercial contracts, international sale of goods & services, insolvency & restructuring, fraud, property conveyancing, construction & development, bankruptcy, directors & shareholder disputes, etc. As for the matters which are too complex to be resolved out of court, I will take them on as a barrister and represent my clients in court.

During my legal practice in Malaysia, I worked with and applied English legal principles, given that the Malaysian legal system is adopted from the UK. This inspired me to return to the UK to explore new career opportunities.

In 2023, I began my career with Oliver & Co as a paralegal in the Corporate and Commercial practice group. I aspire to assist SMEs and companies in resolving their legal issues to support and meet their business objectives. I handle commercial and corporate matters relating to acquisitions, management buy-ins and buy-outs, incorporation of companies, shareholders and directors, registration and protection of intellectual property rights, employee-owned trust, commercial property, etc.

Outside of work, I enjoy music, dance, films and outdoor activities such as camping, hiking and travelling.
