How mediation works
We can refer you to mediation to help resolve your family issue.
What is mediation?
Mediation is an opportunity for both parties involved in a dispute over children or financial matters, to discuss their issues in an informal environment. It can help parties to avoid the court process. If both parties are willing to commit to the process, it can be quite successful and can often result in agreements being resolved without the need to go to court.
What happens during mediation?
Both parties meet with a trained mediator who will facilitate discussions and ultimately encourage agreement. As a solicitor, we can provide you with legal advice throughout the process to ensure you are happy with any agreement you reach.
Mediation is a requirement in all cases before Court proceedings can be issued unless the mediator deems it unsuitable. Legal Aid is still available for mediation subject, to your financial situation.
We can refer you to mediation if you believe it would assist your case.
