Work Place Injuries – Top Tips for Keeping Safe at Work

According to the most recent Health and Safety Executive figures for Great Britain, 61,713 employee injuries were reported in 2021/2022 and 123 workers were killed in work-related accidents. There are many Health and Safety Laws and Regulations in place to help reduce the risk of accident or injury in the workplace. These Laws and Regulations cover several different and important areas including equipment, training and supervision.

The most common workplace injuries

The most common workplace injuries are caused by slips and falls. Our Personal Injury Solicitors at Oliver & Co specialise in these types of accidents and are here to help.

Top tips for keeping safe at work

It is important to keep safe at work. Some top tips to help keep safe at work include:

  • Being aware of the potential risks and dangers of the job you are doing;
  • Taking regular breaks;
  • Taking steps to reduce stress and pressure;
  • Ensuring that your employer supplies the correct equipment and that you use it correctly;
  • Wearing personal protective equipment.

If you are unfortunate to have an accident or injury at work, we have a team of Specialist Solicitors at Oliver & Co who can help recover compensation for your injuries and other losses you may incur.

Injured workers we have helped

Here are a few of the injured workers we helped in the last year:

  • Mr K from Cheshire suffered an injury to his arm which became caught in machinery at work. This resulted in his arm being partially amputated and we were able to recover just under £2 million in compensation for him.
  • Mr H from Birmingham fractured and lacerated his big toe when sheets of metal fell on him at work and his injury developed into a pain condition known as CRPS, Complex Regional Pain Syndrome. Our Specialist Solicitor recovered £85,000 in compensation for him.
  • Mr W from Nottingham injured his arm and shoulder when he tripped over a box on the floor at work. Our Solicitor recovered £50,000 in compensation.

Early rehabilitation can often aid recovery

In every case we deal with, wherever possible we try to arrange early rehabilitation treatments such as physiotherapy, chiropractor treatment or help with psychological injury such as CBT ‘Cognitive Behavioural Therapy’ or counselling to help speed up recovery.

World Day for Safety and Health at Work

28th April 2023 is World Day for Safety and Health at Work. This day is celebrated annually to promote the prevention of occupational accidents and diseases worldwide. Its aim is to increase awareness and help prevent work related accidents and injuries around the world. The International Labour Organisation first began to observe the day in 2003.

If you have had an accident at work and would like to speak to one of our specialist solicitors, please call us on 01244 312306.
