Oliver & Co Solicitors’ Charity of the Year

Each year we chose a Charity of the Year to focus our fundraising and volunteering efforts on. After a very successful year supporting the West Cheshire Food and seeing the amazing work this local charity has done, our staff have chosen another local charity for this year.

Claire House Children’s Hospice

Our Charity of the Year for 2020/21 is Claire House.

Claire House Children’s Hospital helps seriously ill and terminally ill children and their families. They have a team of highly trained professionals including nurses, physiotherapists, play specialists, counsellors and doctors who work extremely hard to help children live life to the full.

Claire House provide care and assistance with practical issues but it’s so much more than that. The charity helps to create amazing experiences for the children and their families and brings a sense of normality back to family life during the toughest times.

Along with a multi-sensory room, art room, hydrotherapy pool and jacuzzi, there is a bar, with games consoles for the older children and young adults. Whilst the children are having much needed fun, the parents can relax, take some time out and spend time with their other children.

The activities aren’t all hospice based, some families don’t want to go to the hospice and so there are also regular trips for the children along with their siblings, creating special memories for the whole family.

Starting our fundraising

Unfortunately, we haven’t been able to launch our fundraising drive as we would have liked due to the COVID-19 lockdown. Thankfully, our staff our able to work safely from home and work-wise, it is business as usual. However, this means that our usual dress down days and cake sales in the office cannot happen, every day is a dress down day at the moment!

So we’ve had to think outside the box and we are now ready to launch our first fundraising event for Claire House – Oliver & Co Solicitors’ 10 for £10 Challenge.

10 for £10 Challenge

We wanted to ensure we included everyone so our first fundraising challenge is simple, choose something to do over the next three weeks that involves the number 10 and when you’ve completed it, donate £10 to Claire House.

It could be anything you like, here are some examples:

  • Walk, run, jog, skip or hop 10k
  • 10 hours of gardening
  • A home disco with 10 hours of dancing
  • Do 10 squats, press ups or burpees every hour of your working day for 1 week
  • Learn 10 new phrases of a foreign language
  • Try 10 new wines you haven’t drunk before (but please drink responsibly)

Donate

Once you’ve done your challenge, you can donate on our JustGiving page https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/oliverandcosolicitors10for10 Even if you don’t fancy doing the challenge yourself, you could sponsor someone who is doing it.

Share your progress

Show off your challenge by taking photos or videos of you in action and share them with us on our Facebook or Twitter, or if you’re happy for us to share them, email us on law@oliverandco.co.uk.
