It’s fantastic to work for such a forward-thinking firm

A blog by Danielle Chandler, Trainee Solicitor

Trainee solicitor Danielle Chandler is at the start of her career with Oliver & Co Solicitors. She shares what Oliver & Co’s transition to employee ownership means to her.

I started as a paralegal at Oliver & Co and am now training to be a solicitor. After I qualify as a solicitor, I hope to develop a long career here.

After working for a few other law firms, what I noticed about Oliver & Co is how positive it is and how involved everyone gets. For example, we do a lot of fundraising for charities that are close to colleagues’ hearts. We work very hard, but we enjoy ourselves too.

Becoming employee owned is a fantastic way to build on this. Everyone who works here is invested in the firm because, thanks to employee ownership, all the employees now have a stake in the profits we make. Although we’re just at the start of our employee ownership journey, everyone is already really positive and excited about what the future holds.

We only became employee owned in October and we’ve already had our first profit share – just in time for Christmas.

There are not many law firms who have opted for an employee ownership structure, and we’re the largest law firm in the North West to become employee owned. It’s fantastic to work for such a forward-thinking firm.

One of the best things about employee ownership for me is knowing that I’m building my career at a firm that puts its employees at the heart of the business.
