Claire House fundraising challenge well under way

Last month we announced Claire House as our Charity of the Year for 2020/21. This is an excellent cause that provides seriously ill and terminally ill children with care and assistance, whilst creating memories with their families, at the toughest of times.

Prior to the COVID-19 lockdown we had arranged for some of our team to visit the Hospice to see first hand the amazing work they do. This visit has been postponed but we look forward to meeting with Claire House when it is safe to do so.

Supporting our Charity of the Year

We would normally kickstart fundraising for our Charity of the Year with dress down days and cake sales. As every day is a dress down day during lockdown, we’ve had to come up with other ways to raise funds for Claire House.

10 for £10 Challenge

We came up with the 10 for £10 Challenge, allowing everyone to pick their own challenge, so long as it included the number 10. Once the challenge is complete, a donation is made via our JustGiving page.

Whilst we’ve been working hard at home, our staff have still found time to complete their own challenge and donate to Claire House and we’re well on the way to our £500 target. Of course, everyone adhered to the Government guidelines with social distancing throughout the challenges.

A variety of challenges

Our staff have been fantastic, completing a range of challenges.

  • Liz Fry from our Clinical Negligence Department got the whole family involved, completing 10 hours of dancing.
  • Claire Critchlow from our Commercial Department got her running shoes on and completed 10km.
  • Louise Tomkow from Conveyancing joined Helena Cameron and Helen Davies from our Industrial Disease team to complete 10 minutes of gruelling exercise, alternating between the Roman Chair and the Plank, for 10 days.
  • Linda Jenyon from our Ellis & Co team has completed 10 bike rides.
  • Martyn Elliott from our Clinical Negligence Department also did some exercise, doing 10 sit ups every hour.
  • Lucy Metcalfe from our Industrial Disease Department has been cooking up a storm, trying 10 new recipes.

More than just fundraising

We’re proud that we have been able to raise much needed funds for Claire House whilst in lockdown but are looking forward to when ‘normality’ returns and we are able to do more for our chosen charity.

We encourage our staff to spend time volunteering throughout the year. In the past people have done bag packing for the Hospice of the Good Shepherd, handed out shopping lists for the Foodbank or done activities with youth organisations. When it is safe to do so, we will be volunteering to help Claire House in any way that we can.

You can help too

Our 10 for £10 Challenge isn’t just for us, you can join in too! Just pick a challenge, complete it and donate £10, or as much as you can afford, via our JustGiving page.
