Jay Semilla

I’m Jay, and my professional journey has taken a somewhat unconventional route. After graduating from the University of Chester with a bachelor’s degree in law, I was approached by a couple friends to help establish and scale a property investment agency. What began as a venture with no existing sales, purchases or managed units developed, over the following years, into a successful business achieving seven-figure sales and managing more than 100 units across the Northwest of the UK.

While building the business was an incredibly demanding and rewarding experience, my passion for law remained a constant ambition. In September 2026, I joined Oliver & Co as a Legal Assistant within the Conveyancing Department, providing me with the opportunity to return to the legal profession and put my degree into practice.

Oliver & Co stood out to me because of the firm’s commitment to transparency, integrity and putting its principles into practice. Since joining, I have experienced first-hand the progressive, collaborative, and forward-thinking culture that defines the firm.

I’m looking forward to bringing the commercial, property, and client-focused experience I’ve gained throughout my career to Oliver & Co, while continuing to develop my legal knowledge and build a long-term career within the profession.
