What does it mean to be eligible for NHS Continuing Healthcare, and how do the authorities decide when an assessment should take place? In England, Primary Care Trusts must follow the Department of Health’s national framework and supporting guidance documents, which set out the tools and criteria used to determine whether someone qualifies for NHS‑funded continuing care.

Eligibility For NHS Continuing Healthcare

The Primary Care Trust (PCT) is under a duty to ensure that an assessment for NHS continuing healthcare has been carried out where appropriate.

If you are receiving care in England, the PCT follows the Department of Health’s national framework for NHS continuing healthcare and this is available to view on their website.
