Asbestos Exposure While Working as a Lab Technician
Mr. S worked as a laboratory technician and technologist at Formica Limited in North Shields. The company manufactured laminates, and part of his role involved working near a someone who frequently cut asbestos boards. Unfortunately, this work was carried out with no protective equipment, exposing Mr. S to harmful asbestos dust on a regular basis.
Interim Payment for Peace of Mind
After sending a letter of claim in October 2023 and providing witness evidence and a biopsy report in November, we secured an interim payment of £50,000 for Mr. S in April 2024. This ensured financial support while his case was ongoing.

Since his claim settled, Mr. S has received over £100,000 worth of private medical care, which has helped reduce the size of his tumour and significantly improve his quality of life. All treatment costs have been covered by the Defendant’s insurers as part of the settlement, giving Mr. S and his family peace of mind during this difficult time.
