Our specialist solicitor, Allison Pepper, recently achieved a favourable settlement for a client who was involved in a pedestrian accident. The client was struck by a car while crossing the road. Despite her immediate reaction to leave the scene due to embarrassment, which prevented us from obtaining the defendant’s details, we were able to proceed with the claim through the Motor Insurers Bureau (MIB) against an untraced driver.
Client’s injuries and recovery
Our client sustained several injuries from the accident:
- Hip injury: Resolved within 6 months.
- Soft tissue damage to the arm: Lasted for 6 months.
- Exacerbation of depression, flashbacks, and panic attacks: Resolved within 6 months.
Claim process and outcome
A medical report was obtained by the MIB, a standard procedure in cases involving untraced drivers. Following this, Allison Pepper prepared a detailed schedule of loss, including the client’s financial losses due to the accident. This submission to the MIB also included a claim for care and assistance, as the client required help with housework for the first 8 ½ weeks post-accident.
Settlement
We are pleased to report that the claim was settled for over £5,400, a result that brought great satisfaction to both our client and our team.
