“We are encouraged to make suggestions and most importantly are heard.”

Blog by Hannah Higson, Trainee Solicitor, Oliver & Co Solicitors

If you were to ask me ‘where is the best place to work?’, my response would undoubtably be Oliver & Co Solicitors. We even won the award for Best Place to Work in 2023 and so I wouldn’t be wrong!

I began my Oliver & Co journey in 2018 and have spent almost 4 of these years in our fabulous, Wills & Probate department, as a Paralegal. I am now on the road to qualification and will finish my Training Contract in September 2025!

Having never worked at a law firm before, I really didn’t know what to expect but my first day began with an enormous smile from our amazing receptionists which really put me at ease. I then quickly noticed that this friendly and caring approach was embedded in all staff.

This sense of being a ‘family’ has only become stronger since we became an employee-owned law firm over 1 year ago. It initially met us all with a lot of questions, the most important being what does that mean? However, I can now honestly say that it was an incredible decision and has benefited us all immensely from both a financial and job satisfaction perspective.

As a Trainee Solicitor, exploring the areas of law before qualification, I have been able to have a great deal of input into which departments I want to train in. We are encouraged to make suggestions and most importantly are heard. I feel very lucky for to work in such a forward-thinking law firm and am excited for what is to come.
