An Urgent Will and LPA Preparation for a Terminally Ill Client

Background:

A couple urgently needed wills and Lasting Powers of Attorney (LPA) due to one partner’s terminal illness. Recognizing the critical situation, Clare, Solicitor in our Wills & Probate Department arranged a home visit with very short notice to address their legal needs.

Initial Consultation:

During the home visit, Clare discussed their requirements and prepared their wills. Additionally, they expressed the need for LPAs and a trust to manage their assets effectively.

Document Preparation:

Understanding the urgency, Clare swiftly prepared all necessary documents, ensuring everything was in order before the health of the terminally ill partner deteriorated further.

Hospital Visit:

Shortly after the home visit, one partner was admitted to the hospital. At the family’s request, Clare visited the hospital to finalise the signing of the documents. This timely intervention ensured that all legal matters were settled, providing the family with peace of mind during a difficult period.

Outcome:

Clare’s proactive and compassionate approach ensured that the wills, LPAs, and trust were completed and signed in time, securing the couple’s wishes and offering them reassurance during a critical time.
