Maria Pilkington, a Specialist Solicitor in our Personal Injury Department recently settled a case for Mrs. P, a 38-year-old woman from Cheshire who injured her arm in an accident at work.
Our client was working in a local Lidl supermarket trying to move a cage trolley full of heavy frozen goods to the bakery when one of the wheels came off causing the trolley to topple over. She trapped her arm between the cage trolley and the bakery wall.
Mrs. P instructed Oliver & Co to deal with the claim and a claim was brought against her employers. The Insurers for Lidl admitted responsibility for the accident, and we proceeded to obtain a medical report from a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon. An MRI scan was also arranged and funded by the defendant’s insurers so that the Orthopaedic Surgeon could provide his diagnosis and prognosis.
It was initially thought our client had fractured her arm, but it transpired it was a soft tissue injury. In addition to claiming compensation for her injury our client also claimed loss of earnings whilst off she was unable to work, travel expenses and for the care her mother provided for her whilst she was recovering.
Following negotiations with the insurers, we successfully recovered just under £8,000 for our client.
