Infant Passenger in Road Traffic Accident – £1,600 in Compensation

Kathryn Bull, a specialist in our Personal Injury Department at Oliver & Co was instructed by the parents of Miss A, a primary school student who had been involved in a road traffic accident.

Miss A was a rear seat passenger in a vehicle being driven by her grandfather. They were hit by the defendant at approximately 40 miles per hour and Miss A experienced pain in her neck, shoulder and upper back for a period of 3 weeks.

As Miss A was a minor, any settlement of her claim had to be agreed by a Judge so once settlement had been reached with the defendant’s insurer, we issued the claim at court and the matter was listed for an Infant Approval Hearing so that a Judge could approve the amount. We were pleased the claim settled for the sum of £1,600 which was invested into a court bank account until our client reached the age of 18.
