We are extremely proud and excited to announce that we have been shortlisted for a category in the British Wills and Probate Awards 2020.
Oliver & Co are one of three companies who have been shortlisted for the Community Involvement Award. This award is all about Corporate Social Responsibility which is something we are very passionate about and have been actively working on for a number of years.
The winner of the award needs to show a consistent programme of community involvement over the last year along with a passion to making a difference to the local community through the firm’s values and actions.
Corporate Social Responsibility
We take our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) seriously, it isn’t a tick box exercise for us and our staff are passionate about the work we do.
Over the past few years we have concentrated our efforts on increasing what we do for the environment, for charities and for our community.
Charity of the Year
Each year we nominate a Charity of the Year to focus our fundraising efforts on. For 2019/20 we supported West Cheshire Foodbank, not only by raising funds but also collecting food donations. For 2020/21 our chosen charity Claire House is a Children’s Hospice which is also local to us. Claire House provides support for seriously ill and terminally ill children and their families.
Wills Clinic for local Hospice
A huge part of our Wills and Probate Department’s CSR involvement is through pro-bono work, providing legal services for the benefit of others. This can best be seen through our Will Clinics which are run every month in aid of the Hospice of the Good Shepherd. Our fee for writing Wills is waived in exchange for a donation to the Hospice and in the last 12 months, almost £9,000 has been raised through the clinics. If you would like to book an appointment at our Will Clinic, visit the Hospice’s website for further information
Sponsorship and volunteering
In addition to our staff raising funds for good causes, as a firm we have sponsored many local charity events and sports teams. We have an ongoing relationship with AmaSing, a local community initiative that enhances children’s wellbeing, confidence and self-esteem through music and the arts.We have sponsored events for Amasing
For the last two years we have sponsored the Hospice of the Good Shepherd’s Foamtastic Colourblast. This is a huge event for the Hospice and in addition to sponsorship, we have provided volunteers for the event from our staff.
Our future CSR
Whilst the COVID-19 pandemic has put a temporary stop to fundraising events, we have been able to start our support for Claire House with our 10 for £10 challenge and we will be thinking of new ways that we can continue to help in the future.
David Owen, Director of Oliver & Co Solicitors said; “We are in the fortunate position where we can help, be it financially or by giving our time and we will continue to do as much as we can for charities, our community and the environment. Our Wills and Probate team do excellent work and I am proud to see their efforts recognised in being shortlisted for this award.”
