Guide To Re-mortgaging

Re‑mortgaging can seem like a complicated process, but with the right legal support it becomes far more straightforward — as you’ll see in our comprehensive guide to re‑mortgaging. At Oliver & Co Solicitors, we take you through every stage with clarity, efficiency, and a commitment to protecting your best interests.

Whether you’re securing a better mortgage deal, releasing equity, or restructuring your finances, our experienced team ensures all legal work is handled smoothly from start to finish.

See our step‑by‑step overview of what to expect when you re‑mortgage your property with us below.

Remortgage Agreed

Once you have instructed us, we will request your title deeds from your existing lender and obtain a redemption statement to confirm how much is still owed on your current mortgage, as well as any other loans secured against the property. We will then await your new mortgage offer and review the title documentation as part of our guide to re‑mortgaging process.

After Offer Received

We will check any special instructions from your new lender. In some cases, it may be necessary to carry out searches against the property, depending on the lender’s requirements.

We will send you the mortgage deed for signature and provide the redemption statement for your existing mortgage (and any other secured loans, if applicable).

Once this is complete, we will agree a suitable completion date with you.

Completion

When the signed documentation is returned to us, along with any balance payable (if required), we can arrange completion. Most lenders require at least one week’s notice.

On the day of completion, we will pay off your existing mortgage (and any other secured loans, if applicable), collect our legal fees and disbursements, and forward any remaining funds to you.

Finally, we will register your new mortgage at the Land Registry. Once the updated title is registered, we will send you a copy and forward the original document to your lender.
