West Cheshire Foodbank

Here at Oliver & Co, we pride ourselves in supporting local community and giving back to those in need. Our amazing team continuously strives to raise money and volunteer at local events in support of local business, charities and the communities in which we operate. Our aim is to play a positive role in society and provide our skills and expertise for the benefit of others.
Charity of the Year
Oliver & Co’s chosen charity for 2019 is the West Cheshire Foodbank who provide emergency food to people in crisis. Between April 2018 and March 2019, West Cheshire Foodbank helped 9651 people and of these recipients, a staggering 3552 were children.
So far this year, our staff have raised money for the West Cheshire Foodbank through dress-down days, bag packing and other inventive fundraising activities. Just this week we raised £155 through a staff raffle which meant we were able to buy (at their request!) 206 cartons of UHT fruit juice for them.
This year in June some of our staff members volunteered for the foodbank at our local Tesco store. They approached shoppers to tell them about the work of the foodbank locally, provided them with a shopping list of items that are desperately needed and encouraged them to pick up an extra item (or two!) on their shopping trip to donate to the foodbank.
We have set up a food donation station at our office in the city centre and each month our staff are encouraged to donate food items. In May 2019, a total of 52.76kg of items were collected and we aim to beat that every month going forward.
The food collected will go towards making up ‘three-day, nutritionally balanced, emergency food parcels’ that are then given to people in crisis. Summer is a particularly difficult time for some families, especially those who rely on free school dinners in term time.
We are hugely inspired by the work of West Cheshire Foodbank and we are delighted to be supporting this charity that provides such an essential lifeline to people at times of hardship.
