As the New Year approaches fast, we’re looking forward to raising yet more money for Macmillan in 2019.

That’s why, with the help of indie band Eskimo Spies, we’re throwing a charity gig in February!

Read on to learn more about the gig and how you can get your hands on a limited number of tickets.

Why are we fundraising for Macmillan?

Our industrial disease department have supported Macmillan Cancer Support for over ten years, raising over £34,000 for them in this time. Every year they host bake sales and other charity events to raise money for this worthy cause.

Macmillan provide vital support and advice to people living with cancer and their families. Sadly, they do not receive any government funding. A donation of just £28 can pay for a Macmillan nurse for an hour.

Macmillan is a charity which is particularly important to our Industrial Disease department. That’s because the solicitors in this department help people to claim compensation after they have been exposed to an occupational hazard, and have suffered an injury or developed an illness as a result. Sadly, the department meets a large number of people who have developed cancer because of their unsafe working environment. For example, they often help clients who have developed mesothelioma, a cancer that is caused by being exposed to asbestos.

Working with these clients daily gives our solicitors a real sense of the excellent, and much-needed, support that Macmillan provide.

Why a charity gig?

As well as fighting to secure compensation, one of our asbestos disease solicitors James Cameron also enjoys playing music with his band, Eskimo Spies. We think that music really brings people together. A fundraising gig is a great way to raise a larger amount of money whilst putting on a great event for people in the local area.
