Colourblast & Cake – September at Oliver & Co

Posted on October 2nd 2018

This month we’ve been fundraising and raising awareness for numerous causes – from baking cakes to throwing paint, we’ve certainly been busy.

Read on to learn more about our efforts this month.

The Hospice of the Good Shepherd’s Foamtastic ColourBlast

We sponsored the Hospice’s Foamtastic Colourblast this month, and many of our staff also volunteered at the event or ran the course. This was no average fun run – as participants started round the course they were covered head to toe with powder paint thrown from colour stations. Further round the track, they also encountered a large foam pit. At the end of the race, covered in paint and foam, everyone definitely deserved their medal.

It’s safe to say that the event was a success, and we were very happy to see it sell out in early September.

We were particularly proud to sponsor this event because of the brilliant work that the Hospice of the Good Shepherd does in the local community. They are a respected provider of palliative care for people living in Cheshire West, Chester and Deeside. They provide services free of charge to patients and families who are facing life-limiting illnesses. Amongst their services, they have an in-patient unit, out-patient services, a day therapy centre, and provide bereavement support.

They largely rely on charitable donations, fundraising, events, and corporate partnerships to fund their crucial work. You can learn more about the Hospice by clicking here.

Macmillan Coffee Morning 2018

The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning took place on Friday 28th September 2018. The coffee morning is a vital source of funding for Macmillan – in 2017 they managed to raise £27 million through coffee mornings alone!

Once again, we signed up for the event and put up posters around the Oliver & Co office. Our amazing staff baked (or bought) cakes and we were very happy to raise £75 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Undoubtedly, Macmillan provide a vital service to people living with cancer and their families, ensuring that nobody has to face cancer alone. You can learn more about Macmillan and the support they provide here.
