If you wish to change your surname then we are on hand to do this for you and can turn it around extremely quickly, often the same day.
A change of name deed can be prepared which, once signed, will give effect to the change of your name immediately. You do not need to do anything further once the deed is signed, except to ensure you notify everyone of your new name and send certified copies of the deed to all parties who hold details of your name, i.e bank, driving licence, passport etc. Your birth certificate does not change, you may wish to register the change but it is not necessary to do so.
If you wish to change a child’s surname we can also do this provided all parties with parental responsibility give consent. We would require consent in writing to undertake this. If there is a dispute over the child’s surname then the only way you could change a child’s surname in the absence of consent is to make an application to the court. It is in rare circumstances however, that the court’s would agree to change a child’s surname.
